Calon Wen Organic Cheese
New from Calon Wen are Organic Extra Mature Cheddar and Mellow Creamy Cheddar.
Made by a co-operative of 20 farming families in Wales who have acheived the Soil Association Ethical Trade Symbol.This means that every aspect of the business is scrutinised for fairness and that they support the local community as well as being environmentally first class.
Their cheeses are fine examples of the British style - the Mild is creamy cheese whereas the Mature is beloved of those who like real 'bite' and depth of flavour.
The prices are very reasonable, and accolades include 'Best Veggie Cheese' in the 'Cook Vegetarian' Magazine Awards 2010, Radio 4 'Food Producer of the Year' 2008/9 and 2 Great taste Awards Gold Stars.
